A group of St. Louis Hispanic leaders created the HAC of St. Louis in 1996 to promote the excellence of the Hispanic culture through concerts, arts exhibits and educational events showcasing local and international well-known artists and personalities of Latin America and Spain. Our first endeavor was the creation of a bilingual weekly radio program 'Hispanic Culture' at KDHX FM88.1 St. Louis Community Radio on topics ranging from history, literature, arts, culture, folk music and geography of Latin America and Spain, as well as a calendar of activities and interviews with local and international personalities. The radio program aired from 1996 to 2000. After that, the HAC of St. Louis continued on the air with another radio program 'The Hispanic Calendar,' a fifteen minutes bilingual radio program featuring Hispanic cultural, educational and leisure events taking place in St. Louis.
As of 1998, we have been in partnership with The Sheldon Concert Hall and Art Galleries that have allowed us to co-organize concerts, arts exhibitions and educational activities to promote the excellence of the Hispanic culture to new and not so new audiences. Also, since 1998 we have been fortunate to have Anheuser-Busch Co. as our main sponsor, which have made possible for us to bring the best Hispanic artists to St. Louis.
