On Saturday March 8th, 2014, the national organization of Latina women 'Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. awarded the Tijeras Grant to the Hispanic Arts Council of St. Louis, to support the Universidad YA!/College NOW! Latino higher education projects. The Tijeras (scissors) Grant's mission is 'cutting through to enhance educational opportunities for Latinos' which fits perfectly with Universidad YA! higher education project to provide college access to undeserved Latino youth regardless their immigration status. The $14,000.00 Tijeras Grant was awarded to HAC during the gala, that ended the organization's Annual Conference 'Dias de las Rosas.' The grant will benefit HAC Hispanic College Fairs, will allow the creation of the 'HAC - Lambda Theta Nu Scholarship' for Latino college students & assist the Universidad YA! workshops, presentations and publication of bilingual booklets on the road to college access in the U.S. The Hispanic Arts Concil of St. Louis is honored, grateful and proud to have the support and partnership of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc.
